Our Team

Nerys Jones

Partner, Head of Wills and Probate

Nerys is recognised for developing and maintaining long lasting client relationships and ensures that matters are dealt with as efficiently and sensitively as possible.

Nerys is the Head of the Wills and Probate department. She qualified as a Solicitor in 1987 and has over 35 years experience dealing with private client matters. Nerys regularly acts as a professional trustee, executor and Deputy as well as advising clients holding these roles. She can offer advice on drafting Wills, Estate Administration, Lasting Power of Attorney and Court of Protection Deputyships.

Nerys has particular expertise in advising farmers and landowners on the acquisition and disposal of farms as well as all aspects of residential property transactions.

Louise Harding

Louise has over 10 years of experience in family law and dispute resolution. Louise is committed to helping clients navigate complex family matters with compassion and expertise and has a wealth of experience across a wide range of dispute resolution matters including contentious probate disputes, professional negligence claim and debt recovery. 

Louise has extensive court and mediation experience and is committed to finding a resolution to disputes as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. 

Louise joined Gilbert Davies Solicitors in 2013 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2014 and became Managing Partner in 2024. Louise is an accredited member of the Family Law Association, a member of Resolution and is currently undertaking the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) training programme which promotes expertise and high standards in contentious trust and probate matters. Alongside her family and dispute resolution work, Louise is the Managing Director overseeing the strategic direction and daily operations of the firm.

Arwel Jones

Whether you’re buying, selling, or remortgaging a property, Arwel will guide you through the legal process with ease. Arwel can provide expert legal support across all areas of residential and commercial property transactions.

Arwel has worked for the firm since 2013 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2015. In 2021, due to his extensive knowledge concerning all areas of conveyancing, Arwel then became the Head of the Conveyancing Department.

Arwel is the firm’s Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for the Conveyancing Quality Scheme which is therecognised quality standard for SRA regulated firms in residential conveyancing and also the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA) managing the financial management and administrative aspects of the firm.

David Thomas

David is a Consultant and former Managing Partner of Gilbert Davies Solicitors. David retired as a Director in 2024, having been a Partner at the firm for 28 years.

David has over 30 years’ experience in dealing with all aspects of Residential and Commercial Property matters and advising families in relation to Wills, Probate, Trusts and Estate Planning.

Shonah Dowler

Shonah has a wealth of experience of advising clients on a broad range of matters including the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney, estate planning, the creation and administration of trusts, obtaining probate and the administration of estates.

Shonah qualified as a Solicitor in 2006 and worked in-house as a Solicitor for a large financial institution before joining the firm in 2017.Shonah is an Affiliate member of STEP (Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners, the professional body for the trust and estate profession) and is currently undertaking the STEP Diploma to become a full member

Emma Serjeant

Compliance Officer

Emma obtained her law degree at Aberystwyth University and after qualifying, worked as a Solicitor in a large commercial law firm in West Yorkshire in the dispute resolution department and laterally specialising in compliance management.

In 2015 she moved back to the area to be closer to family and is currently working in a part-time consultancy role with Gilbert Davies dealing with compliance management for the firm.  Emma’s role is to make sure that the firm complies with all the terms and conditions of its authorisation and with its statutory obligations and ensuring overall quality control is taken care of.

Gareth Davidson

Consultant

Gareth qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and spent the early part of his legal career in Montgomeryshire. He went on to hold various posts with firms in South Wales and the South West of England. Gareth left full-time law in 2014 to train for Baptist Ministry and now combines a role as Minister at Knighton and Knucklas Baptist Church with a part-time consultancy role with Gilbert Davies, where he deals with all things post-completion for our Conveyancing team.

Gareth does not simply submit applications as an administrative task rather he examines and cross references our applications to reduce requisitions but also pre-empts and eliminates any unavoidable requisitions.

Louise has worked in the legal sector for over 20 years and is now a CILEX qualified Paralegal.

Louise provides support to a variety of departments across the firm and has a particular interest in the areas of Probate and Family Law.

Ellie qualified from the University of Aberystwyth with a First-Class Honours Degree in Law in 2024. Ellie joined the firm soon after and works as a Paralegal providing support to the Conveyancing Department.

Cerys Evans is a Paralegal providing assistance to the Wills and Probate department. Cerys is currently studying Law at Aberystwyth University.

Naomi Jones

Paralegal

Naomi joined the Wills and Probate team shortly after completing her Post Graduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) in May 2026. Prior to her legal studies, she graduated from Queen Mary University of London in 2019 with a degree in Spanish and Portuguese.

Tom Jarman

Tom joined the firm in April 2025 having undertaken some work experience with the firm. Tom graduated from Bangor University with a First-Class Honours Degree in Law. Tom has a particular interest in Conveyancing and Private Client, and he hopes to qualify as a Solicitor in this area.
